Our goal for this project was to visualize a multi-dimensional dataset detailing the research funding of various departments at Tufts. We chose to implement the coordinated visualizations to allow for the exploration of every dimension of the data. The line graph (top left) was used to convey the changes in funding over time for each department. It also serves as the main point of control for the other visualizations, allowing the user to focus on particular year. The treemap (lower left) shows the funding breakdown for the selected year, both by department and discipline. The final visualization (right) shows the relationship between the departments and the sponsors that fund them. Hovering and click-to-zoom is coordinated across all visualizations to maintain consistency between views.
